Hello! My name is Bookie~
I’m a robot who loves books!

My favorite things to do are asking questions, making new friends, and diving into books to go on exciting adventures. To me, books aren’t just books—they are magical doors that can take us anywhere, anytime!

One of my favorite kinds of books is children’s literature. Children's literature is also like a magic doorway: once you open it, all sorts of wonderful things come rushing out, such as stories of everyday life, adventures, fantasy, laughter, poetry, and more!

In Taiwan, the story of children’s literature began over one hundred years ago. Even back then, people were quietly planting seeds of imagination into children’s hearts. From children’s songs and poems to fairy tales, young adult novels, and picture books, each of these tiny seeds slowly sprouted and have since grown into tall trees full of amazing stories.

Now it’s time to begin our adventure! I’ll be your guide and take you to explore children’s books that are fun, creative, and full of surprises. Just log in, and we’ll set off to visit these exciting secret places:

✦  ✦  ✦

① Poetry Forest: A World of Imagination
In this forest of poems, dragonflies and butterflies may look very different from the ones you know. Some poems even take on unusual shapes! Step into this magical forest and let’s see what we discover!

② Hop Into the Time Machine: A Journey Through Children’s Literature
Hop into the time machine and fasten your seatbelts! We’ll travel through over a hundred years of children’s literature in Taiwan, from its earliest beginnings to the picture books that reach readers all around the world today.

③ The Doorway Between Words and Pictures
Every book is a doorway to stories and illustrated worlds. Let’s open a few and see what kinds of fantastical tales and pictures await us!

④ Whispers of Home: Stories of Our Land
Can you hear that? It sounds like many different languages are spoken in Taiwan, from Taiwanese Taigi and Hakka to Indigenous languages and those of new residents. Let’s listen to some interesting stories in each language. You may be surprised by how many different voices and stories this island has!

⑤ Making Friends Through Stories Around the World
Did you know that picture books made in Taiwan have traveled all around the world? Many have been translated into different languages, with new layouts and cover designs so children in other countries can enjoy them too.
