Qiu Miao-jin Archive

Qiu Miao-jin(1969-1995) is a representative writer of classical homosexual literature. During her school days, she was the victorious champion of literary awards. In 1991, she published her first novel: Ghost Carniva. After graduating from the Department of Psychology at National Taiwan University, she went to Université Paris 8 in 1994 to study for a Master’s degree. In the same year, she published Notes of a Crocodile. In 1995, she committed suicide, which aroused a discussion in the literary world. With the assistance of literary executor Lai Xiang-yin, Qiu’s unpublished works were published: The Lonely Crowd, Last Words from Montmartre and The Diary of Qiu Miao-jin. Qiu’screation has the nature of the personal novel, which involves the exploration of self-identity and the dialectic of life and death, while actively pursuing the purity of art. ----Tu Chih-hsuan, 2019
